Entrepreneur & Award Winning Author to Feature in Portrait of Black Britain ExhibitionEntrepreneur & award-winning author, Anita Frost, has been invited to feature in the Portrait of Black Britain. This major public art exhibition will be held at Manchester Arndale from 1-18 July 2021, showcasing a range of Black people living in the UK and their contributions to society. One of the project’s aims is to inspire women of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate who they are and feel empowered. For the project, Anita Frost will be sharing her background and story, talking about how she turned her love of business and child development into a multi award winning children’s brand, as well as being photographed for the exhibition. Her contributions and portrait will be featured in the exhibition in July this year. The driving force behind the Portrait of Black Britain is Cephas Williams – artist, photographer, speaker, activist and campaigner. His aim is to curate the largest collection of photographic portraits of Black British people ever created. Williams is best known as the creator of 56 Black Men, Letter to Zion and the Black British Network. Through this ground-breaking new project, Williams aims to give a voice and a platform to those whose story it is to tell, answering the question ‘What does it mean to be Black, living in the UK?’ By handing the stage to the Black community in the UK, he is keen not only to highlight high-profile success stories, but to turn the spotlight on the everyday individuals and stories celebrating people across a broad range of society. The Portrait of Black Britain is a chance to honour the amazing people and stories within the Black community – transcending the tragedy and trauma so often reported in the news, and instead highlighting the huge diversity and talent within this vibrant community.
