These are just a few of the best things about my year. I am already excited about what we have planned for 2019. I wish everyone a happy Christmas and New Year, however you decide to celebrate. In our success, we are in a great position to be able to give a leg up to those who might be struggling in areas of life that we are thriving in. Community Engagement is important to us as a business, and we are committed to giving back to those who need it, regardless of age, social status, gender or ethnicity. It’s been my absolute joy to give something of value to help empower and encourage women in prison, children in hospital, and those in far-away countries who are in poor communities. Back in September, I went with Editor/Content Creator Rebekah to visit Askham Grange Women’s Prison in Yorkshire, following a recent opportunity that came up to meet the prison’s head of education. We had the chance to be inspired by the stories and aspirations of the ladies who were determined to move on from mistakes they had made in the past, and to build a brighter and better future. Being in hospital and being ill at any time in life is very difficult, but especially during childhood, when we are meant to be having fun and playing. This Christmas time, we have been visiting children’s hospitals in the local area, including Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool to bring some much needed festive cheer to kids who will not be able to be at home during Christmas. We did some story telling with the Green Bean series, followed by presents around the Christmas Tree. In the New Year, there will be more visits like this, so look out on the website… As well as serving the local community, we have been sending Green Bean books to community projects overseas in Kenya, Ghana, El Salvador and Togo. This is to help children begin learning to read, and to learn English, and fall in love with reading from an early age. We have done this in conjunction with Compassion, a programme that operates by finding people to sponsor children in projects. Sponsorship provides children with everything they need to receive education, healthcare, food, and everything they need to live a great life. Follow the link to the Compassion website to learn more about how Compassion and sponsorship works, and what you can to to help. Lots of love,
Anita Frost xxx
