Bath Children’s Literature Festival is Europe’s largest dedicated children’s literature festival, featuring a whole host of inspiring talks and activities for children. The festival kicked off on 24th September, and will run until this Sunday 3rd October - so if you’re looking for something to entertain the kids this weekend, be sure to check it out! Here’s an overview of some exciting events coming up this weekend for the last few days of the festival that you won’t want to miss: The Very Hungry Caterpillar Storytime Come along for an interactive crafting and storytime session for children aged 2-5 years old, based on the late Eric Carle’s classic The Very Hungry Caterpillar book which has been delighting children for over 50 years. A newly hatched caterpillar eats his way through all kinds of food before something very special happens! This event is aimed at children aged 3-7 years. “Over the shimmering ocean, up the huge, high mountain, through the deep, dark forest . . . WE’RE GOING TO FIND THE MONSTER! With Chae Strathie Award-winning author Chae Strathie showcases his riotous book all about ancient Rome. Developed in consultation with experts from the British Museum, this funny and accessible book helps teach children what everyday life was really like for children in ancient Rome. An unmissable event for kids who love history and are aged 7-12 years old! Saturday 2nd October 2021 from 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM Find out more and book tickets here: A Gruesome History of the Human Body with Adam Kay and Henry Paker Writer, comedian and former doctor Adam Kay explores the mysteries of our bodies and all of its weird and wonderful workings in his new book, Kay’s Anatomy. Award-winning comedian and illustrator Henry Paker will be hosting a draw along challenge for children, and parents will get involved in the ultimate ‘True or Poo’ quiz. Following the show Adam will be answering all your Kay’s Anatomy questions in a Q&A session. This event is ideally suited to children aged 7-12 years old. Richard Osman calls Grimwood “funny, anarchic, original and gloriously silly”. You’ll be swept up on an adventure with fox cub siblings Ted and Nancy, as they face thieving eagles, dramatic ducks, and riotous rabbits, amongst other quirky creatures!
