At Green Bean Studios, our mission is to empower early years children to learn, play and go on fun outdoor adventures so that they can thrive mentally, physically, emotionally and socially. The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood recently launched a new campaign called ‘Shaping Us’, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of a child’s early years experience for shaping the rest of their lives. The campaign was developed based on new research which shows that one in three (36%) adults reported knowing little to nothing about child development and the unique importance of this stage of life between ages 0 – 5 compared to other life stages. Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales said: “The way we develop, through our experiences, relationships, and surroundings during our early childhood, fundamentally shapes our whole lives. It affects everything from our ability to form relationships and thrive at work, to our mental and physical well-being as adults and the way we parent our own children. “These are the most preventative years. By focusing our collective time, energy, and resources to build a supportive, nurturing world around the youngest members of our society and those caring for them, we can make a huge difference to the health and happiness of generations to come.” Seeing a high-profile figure such as Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales supporting a cause that is at the core of our work at Green Bean Studios, our founder Anita Frost was excited about the launch of this campaign and the benefits it will have in supporting young children to reach their full potential and thrive in life. How is Green Bean Studios supporting early years children? With over 20 years’ of child development experience, our team understands the importance of the ‘Shaping Us’ campaign and how greatly needed it is to tackle huge societal issues that are affecting children across the UK and beyond. We recently had firsthand experience of how early intervention in the early years transforms children’s lives. We journeyed alongside a mother whose son was diagnosed with a speech delay, using our children’s books to help him overcome this. Yether was 2.5 years old when he was diagnosed with a speech delay. His mother, Ehi discovered the Green Bean Collection and within 2.5 years of reading our books together, Yether’s communication skills were completely transformed. Yether is now 5 years old and you would never guess that he had ever struggled with his speech. Ehi credits the Green Bean Collection books with enabling her son to overcome his speech delay, helping develop his vocabulary, understanding and confidence in all aspects of communication. View Yether’s story on our Youtube channel: The Green Bean team is looking forward to following the Shaping Us campaign as it develops and seeing the positive impact it will have on early years children for years to come.
