Award-winning author and entrepreneur, Anita Frost, met virtually with a host of key industry professionals in the Children’s TV, Media and Film sectors at The Children’s Media Conference (CMC) 2021. The CMC is a week-long online conference for all those involved in developing, producing and distributing children’s content across all platforms, and is the only one of its kind in the UK. Delegates and speakers come from a range of professions including TV, film, radio, toys and games, arts and culture, and education. The CMC provides a unique resource for people to share and learn valuable industry insights which benefit the Children’s Media industry as a whole.
Each year, the conference is given a theme, and this year’s chosen theme is ‘Togetherness’. Despite the fact that the conference is being held virtually due to covid restrictions, CMC Editorial Director Greg Childs states that the pandemic has brought us together in unexpected ways. He goes on to say that:
“As children come together again at school, and reconnect in the real world with friends and family long missed, what will we do as an industry to take care of their physical and mental well-being, to ensure they are safe online, to provide them with valued, trusted and relevant content, and maybe get together with them to make it?” This highlights the importance of The Children’s Media Conference, not just for helping those who are creating and distributing content to children, but also for the children themselves - so that everyone who works within the Children’s Media industry comes from a place of consideration and care, with an understanding of how their content will impact and support children to be happy, healthy and develop to reach their full potential.
