We are pleased to announce a new borough-wide partnership with Wigan Council to celebrate World Book Day 2026, featuring our popular children's character, Green Bean. This collaboration will be rolled out across all Wigan libraries and will link to selected schools. As the author of the collectible series, Green Bean Books and the thought leader of the Green Bean Brand, a Manchester company at the home of Green Bean Studios, the book series uses innovative techniques to deliver simple, fun, and joyful stories that successfully engage children and nurture a passion for reading. The collection spans from baby books to early readers' books and magazines. The books achieved significant success, being sold in major book retailers like Waterstones and winning multiple awards. Parents and educators frequently noted how deeply engaged children were with the books, often leading to support for reluctant readers and children experiencing speech delays. Activities and Participation The celebration will kick off with a series of engaging challenges, including den making and comic strip design. Exclusive author visits from Anita Frost, the creator of the multi-award-winning Green Bean, will also take place in selected schools. To participate in these exciting World Book Day challenges, simply visit any Wigan library. There, children can pick up comic strips, learn more about Green Bean, or borrow Green Bean books. Supporting Early Years Development This partnership has been formed to directly support Wigan’s early years sector, which is currently facing significant challenges:
The Green Bean Difference Uniquely built on 20 years of child development research, Green Bean was created to have the same wide appeal as globally popular characters. The key distinction is that Green Bean is specifically designed to meet all the requirements for successfully boosting children's development, ensuring they become school-ready, encouraging focused learning and play, and promoting outdoor adventures. Our Core Approach Across our three key business areas—retail, media/attractions, and television—we seamlessly integrate Social Science, Innovation, and Creativity. SHOP - TV - NEWS
