World Book Day 2025: "Read Your Way"Today, we celebrate World Book Day, themed "Read Your Way." This day, celebrated on Thursday, March 6, 2025, encourages children and young people to discover the joy of reading on their own terms. "Read Your Way" aims to: * Encourage reading for pleasure * Empower children to discover reading independently * Remove reading pressures and expectations * Personalize reading experiences to counter the decline in reading for pleasure With children's literacy levels at a critical point and reading for pleasure declining, the pressure to improve literacy skills has intensified. While early years education needs improvement, forcing children to read solely for literacy development doesn't foster a love of reading. Giving children a choice in what they read is crucial for lifelong reading enjoyment. This year's World Book Day theme encourages us to let go of pressure and expectations, giving children the choice and space to enjoy reading. Good literacy and a genuine love of reading will naturally follow. World Book Day activities include: * Dressing up as a character or person from a book * Designing a potato book character * Participating in reading activities * Reading a favourite book for 60 seconds, all at the same time * Participating in workshops and follow-up literacy activities Green Bean Books™ (by Green Bean Collection), our online bookshop for children, offers stories authored by Anita Frost and published by Green Bean Studios®. We share values of sustainable living, environmental awareness, and supporting children's play, learning, and adventures. As a Manchester-based brand, we inspire a love of outdoor adventures, greener living, learning, and cherishing precious moments with your children. Our bright colours and engaging stories excite and educate young children, aligning with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework. Other World Book Day 2025 activities include Rubies as the official dress-up partner and free resources from the Jigsaw Education Group based on their Jigsaw Outdoors program. Allowing children to read books at various levels, as long as they enjoy the stories, is key to raising passionate readers and writers. Beyond written storytelling, author visits and oral storytelling also spark a love of reading. A note from the Author/Founder
My aim is to help educate and inspire families globally to nurture the environment, enjoy the world's natural resources, and live healthier, greener lives. Children are at the heart of everything I do. I'm passionate about creating books, toys, games, music, and wholesome entertainment that educate and inspire children, develop key skills, and enable their creativity to flourish. I'm proud to have created a brand and products that children and parents love. Supporting young children's learning and reading is incorporated into every aspect of our business. Our plans to develop Green Bean Collection® stories into a children's animated TV series will prioritize education and learning through fun. - Anita Frost Thank you for celebrating World Book Day with us!
