Advocacy for UK Children and Young People in Media The Parliamentary Select Committee for Culture Media and Sport has launched a long-awaited Inquiry into children’s television and video content. This comprehensive inquiry will examine content creation, distribution, algorithmic promotion to children, revenue distribution, and the overall impact on audiences, society, and the children’s media industry. This inquiry is a direct result of the Children’s Media Foundation's (CMF) persistent campaigning, which began during the debates on the Media Bill. CMF advocated for an investigation into the state of children's media in the UK and subsequently proposed this Inquiry to the Select Committee. A call for evidence is currently open for submissions until September 4, 2025. Dame Caroline Dinenage MP, Chair of the CMS Committee, has commended CMF for their efforts in advancing these crucial discussions.
Anita Frost Founder of Green Bean Studios comments on recent announcement:
Anita Frost highlights that while sector professionals have observed a sharp decline in children's outdoor activities and learning experiences since before the pandemic, the crucial element remains how we effectively make a positive impact. Despite an annual allocation of £17 billion in taxpayer money to this area, we are currently experiencing a decline. With over 20 years of experience in both child development and business, Anita Frost is a multi-award-winning industry leader. She is recognised for her innovative eco-toys, engaging sound media content, and fun learning books, all designed to improve children's school readiness. We are eager to explore how we can further contribute to making a positive impact in this vital area. We encourage professional decision-makers to reach out to us as these discussions continue.
