It's a WIN for the Green Bean Studios Team! What a fantastic evening on Thursday 17th October 2024 at the KPMG Black Entrepreneurs’ Awards 2024. Founded by Olu Odubajo, this was the fifth year of the awards, and KPMG has supported 48 Black heritage founders so far, investing over £650,000 in the programme. Guest had the chance to hear the pitches from the finalists, each founder filled with passion and energy telling all about their businesses. The judges certainly had a tough job choosing the winners but ultimately four entrepreneurs stood out. A huge congratulations to Ayan Mohammed, founder of Digitech Oasis for winning the most promising large business category, Anita Frost, founder of Green Bean Studios for winning the most promising medium business category, Yasmin Greenaway, founder of dermie.AI for winning the most promising small business category and Ben Lindsay OBE, founder of Power The Fight for winning our most promising not-for-profit business category. Guest enjoyed hearing from the speakers and panellists. The keynote speech from Casyo Johnson was a genuinely inspiring speech, about his perseverance and motivation behind creating the super successful Nala's Baby. Listening to him speak alongside previous BEA winners Dami Hastrup and Mary A. was a treat for those in the room. We look forward to seeing how all of the finalists get on as they participate in a 12 month KPMG acceleration programme. Thanks to the hosts for the evening, Toluwani Adefeso and Uzoma Mezue who both did a super job on the night, the judges, and everyone who supported in making the event a success. Anita Frost , the founder of Green Bean Studios, said: “2024 has been a challenging and yet breakthrough year for Green Bean, as we continue our journey to becoming the leading brand in supporting young children’s learning and development, sustainably. “Empowering children to achieve their best, while instilling a love of their environment and world, is at the heart of everything we do. At a time when the world's early years sector is at its all-time low, we want to create opportunities for children to enjoy precious moments with their grown-ups, whether indoors with a book or in nature with a kite, and this award success is a testament to the significance of this approach. We anticipate further growth next year encompassing KPMG's 12-month accelerator into our ecosystem, with plans to expand the sales and creative team, launch retail lines into three new territories, and announce a new investment round alongside the unveiling of new eco products and its animated TV series developments. Jonathan Holt • Chief Executive and Senior Partner KPMG shared: Establishing a business is challenging at the best of times, but the obstacles are even more pronounced for some. Black entrepreneurs in the UK receive a disproportionately low amount of venture capital investment, estimated to be less than 1%. As a business leader, I’m hugely passionate about tackling inequality, so I’m delighted to see KPMG UK’s Black Entrepreneurs’ Awards announce their latest winners. A huge congratulations to: 🏆 Ayaan Mohamed Ali, Founder of Digitech Oasis – Most Promising Large Business 🏆 Anita Frost, Founder of Green Bean Studios – Most Promising Medium-sized Business 🏆 Yasmin Greenaway FRSA, Founder of dermie.AI – Most Promising Small Business 🏆 Ben Lindsay OBE, Founder of Power The Fight – Most Promising Not-for-Profit Business Founded by Olu Odubajo, and now in its fifth year, our awards connect innovative start-ups with access to vital funding, mentorship and skills workshops. As the huge volume of applications goes to show, there’s no shortage of incredible and innovative individuals ready to challenge the status quo and explore new solutions. I'm thrilled our firm will work with all of this year's finalists to help them grow their businesses through our 12-month acceleration programme.
I can't wait to hear how they all get on and I hope to see them go from strength to strength. You can find out more about the Black Entrepreneurs’ Awards, including our previous winners, here: https://lnkd.in/eivjE2vx #MakeTheDifference #Entrepreneurs #Business #Innovation #Inclusion
