Play serves as a child's initial opportunity to make choices and forms a fundamental basis for their future learning and professional life. Through play, children can practice leadership, explore, learn from their errors, and develop self-correction abilities. When adults consistently manage all aspects of a child's day, children miss out on chances to independently practice making sound decisions. This early exposure to decision-making in a safe and fun environment helps them build essential skills for navigating more complex situations later in life.

Inform the child a few minutes in advance, for example, by saying, "When the timer goes off, it's our play time." This preparation helps them transition smoothly and understand what to expect, making the experience more positive.
